  Salem United Methodist Church is a small country church on the west side of the street with a membership of 100+. On Sunday morning it has Church School for infants to adults from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM and a modified traditional Worship Service starting at 10:30 AM. During the summer between the 1st Sunday in June and the 3rd Sunday in September there is only the Worship Service starting at 10 AM with optional children's church.
  As an aide to those who have vision difficulties, the entire Sunday Worship Service is displayed on the overhead projection screen as well as printed in the bulletin. There is extensive use of visual aides used during the service. The sound system is one of the best in the area. Members assisting in leading the worship service range from youth in their teens to seniors in their 90's. The sanctuary is surrounded with vibrant wood work and stained glass windows from the early 20th Century.
  The church is active in serving the community, country and the world. It actively supports the Zionsville Area Food Pantry which provides food monthly to over 200 people and UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) which is one of the first organizations on the scene in times of disaster throughout the USA and the world.
  In addition to the main church building, the Gerald Jacoby Pavilion is a 32' X 56' fellowship area that was recently enclosed in 2009. Sliding windows with screens around the entire circumference as well as upper level vent windows provide cross ventilation when desired. With surrounding glass (totally 360 degrees), there is a feeling of being immersed in nature.
  Also on the property is an historic horse shed that gives a 19th century background for pictures and events in contrast to the modernistic appearing pavilion.
